How bright is Lumos Firefly?
Lumos Firefly reaches up to 84 lumens with the brake light on, 38 lumens as a rear light and 48 lumens as a turn signal, measured at the highest brightness. It is made to help drivers see you rather than to light an unlit road, so on dark paths pair it with a headlight.
How long does the battery last, and how long does it take to charge?
Up to 35 hours as a rear light and up to 32 hours as a front light in Battery Saver mode (20% brightness), and 3 to 3.5 hours in High Visibility or Always On mode. A full charge takes about 3 to 5 hours, and the Lumos App shows the battery level.
Do I need to buy a charger?
Yes, unless you already have a Qi wireless charger: Lumos Firefly ships without one. It charges on most Qi chargers, the Lumos Firefly Charging Cradle (1 light at a time) or the Portable Quad Charging Mat (4 lights at once, with a 10 W or higher USB power adapter). There is no charging port, which keeps the light sealed against water.
Is Lumos Firefly waterproof?
Yes. Lumos Firefly is rated IPX7 and has no charging port to leave open, so you can ride with it in the rain.
Do I need the Lumos Remote for turn signals and the brake light?
For the brake light, yes; for turn signals, no. You can trigger turn signals in the Lumos App or with the Lumos Remote, but the automatic brake light needs the accelerometer built into the Lumos Remote. The round Remote Lite does not work with Lumos Firefly.
How many lights do I need for turn signals?
Two: left and right turn signals need one light on each side, such as a pair on the Rear Turn Signal Mount. With a 4-pack you can add a second pair at the handlebar ends for turn signals front and rear. A single light works as a front or rear light and can show the brake light.
Where can I mount Lumos Firefly?
On handlebars, seat posts, rear racks, bike trailers and backpacks. The included universal mount comes with a silicone strap that stretches up to 15 cm (6 in), a Velcro strap and 2 paddings for different tube shapes.
Can one Lumos Firefly be both a front and a rear light?
Yes. Every Lumos Firefly has white, red and yellow LEDs, and you choose in the Lumos App whether it works as a front light, rear light or turn signal, as often as you like.
Does Lumos Firefly work with my Lumos helmet, or without one?
Both. Lumos Firefly syncs with Lumos Kickstart 2, Matrix, Ultra, Ultra E-Bike, Nyxel and Sonorus helmets in the Lumos App, and it works on its own without any helmet.
Can I use Lumos Firefly on German roads (StVZO)?
Not mounted on the bike: Lumos Firefly is not StVZO-approved, and Germany does not allow flashing lights mounted on bicycles, though flashing lights on helmets and backpacks are allowed. Elsewhere, rules vary by country, and you can switch to a solid mode where flashing is restricted.
